Entrances

The show has three public entrances/exit gates.

Thames Gate – situated along the Thames Path from Hampton Court Bridge, running alongside the Palace, this is the closest entrance to Blue Car Park. Accessible via a ramp. All ferry services run to Thames Gate. Please note the Ferry is accessed via a flight of steps.

Ditton Gate – situated in the Palace grounds. This is the closest entrance to Green Car Park, and is accessible via a footbridge over the A308. Please note:  dogs are not allowed in the Palace grounds. If you are bringing your dog to the show, please walk down Thames Path to Thames Gate.

Long Water Gate – situated in Black Car Park. This is the entrance that serves Black Car Park. The shuttle and mobility buses that run from Green and Blue Car Parks will also drop off here.

Travel by car

If you are planning to drive to the show, please use KT8 9AU to get you to the local area and then follow AA signs.

It is advisable to pre-book your parking in advance via our website; however, there are card payment machines available at each car park entrance for on-the-day sales.

If you have purchased a show car park ticket, you will be directed to any of the three car parks: 
  • Black Car Park – situated off the A308 Hampton Court Road (coming from Kingston)
    • 5-10min approx. walk to Long Water Gate
  • Green Car Park – situated off the A308 Hampton Court Road (coming from M3)
    • 5-20min approx. walk to Ditton Gate
  • Blue Car Park – situated off the A309 (coming from the A3)
    • 30mins approx walk to Thames Gate

If you have purchased Disabled Parking and / or mobility equipment, you should head to Black Car Park.

Otherwise please follow the electronic road signs to the nearest available car park, which we will change in real time in line with traffic and / or available space.

Park & ride service

There is a park & ride service available at Apps Court Farm on the A3050 – also known as Red Car Park.

Cost is £9 per day, payable on the day via cash or card.

Once parked, the courtesy bus service will take you to the drop off point at the foot of Hampton Court Bridge, where you can walk over the bridge and down Thames Path to the entrance Thames Gate.

Bus journey time – 15 - 20 minutes
Walking time – 15 - 20 minutes

If you’d prefer not to walk, Parr Boats run from the drop off point directly to Thames Gate.

Coaches

Accessing the show from the coach park

If you are travelling by coach, your coach will park in the Hampton Court Green Car Park. To reach the showground, there are three options:
  • Walking 20 minutes either to Thames Gate (down Thames Path) or Ditton Gate (through the Palace Grounds. Both options require using a footbridge
  • A shuttle bus that runs back and forth from Green Car Park to Long Water Gate Entrance
  • A mobility bus than runs back and forth from Green Car Park to Long Water Gate Entrance

Please note: these shuttle buses will run continuously, however there may be a wait depending on the traffic. Please check with the nearest steward for wait times. You can return via the same method when you leave the showground.

Travel by train

The closest railway station to the show is Hampton Court, however there are also trains to Kingston and Surbiton which run more frequently. All are operated by South Western Railway.

From Surbiton Station – take one of the very regular buses (281/K1/K2/K3/465) to Kingston Bus Station and then change to another very regular bus (111/216/411/461) to Hampton Court Green, and walk 5 minutes to Ditton Gate. Total journey time – 30 minutes.

From Kingston Station - take one of the very regular buses (111 / 216 / 411 / 461) to Hampton Court Green, and walk 5 minutes to Ditton Gate

From Hampton Court Station - walk 10 minutes to Thames Gate

Travel by boat

Ferry services 

Turks Launches runs garden festival ferry services on the River Thames from Hampton Court station, Kingston Bridge (near Kingston station), Town End Pier and Richmond, to the Thames Gate Entrance.

Parr Boats launch from the Moseley side of Hampton Court Brudge, offering a similar service. Running times TBC.
 
There’s a charge for these services. 

Cycling

There are bike racks available for public use at Thames Gate (accessible along Thames Path) and Long Water Gate (accessible through Stud Gate or Home Park).

Tube and bus

If you wish to travel to the show by tube and bus, please use the Transport for London Journey Planner to plan your journey.

Food & drink

Food & drink

From pre-bookable sit down dining, afternoon tea, grab-and-go options, a bakery, picnic hampers, coffee, ice cream and snacks, there will be a variety of food on offer.

Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options will be available.
 

Facilities

Useful information

This is a temporary, outdoor event on open parkland and is subject to varying weather and ground conditions. Although some temporary trackway is laid, much of the event is staged on open ground and care must be taken. We therefore advise that you check the weather forecast for the day of your visit, consider the nature of the event and the effects of any inclement weather on surface conditions, and wear suitable clothing and footwear. In extreme weather conditions, access may be restricted in the interest of safety.

Visitors may be subject to security searches.

Show guides

The RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival guide includes the complete exhibitor listings, show highlights and a fully illustrated guide to the Show Gardens and features. The show guide also contains a detailed map of the showground.

Show guides are available to purchase in advance with your tickets for £9.50 including delivery (posting is only available within the UK). Alternatively you can buy a guide at the show for £10.

Animals

Pet dogs are welcome, limited to one dog per booking. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are not permitted in indoor café areas. Please be a responsible dog owner and clean up after your pet using the bins provided. Pet dogs are not permitted at the Preview Evening.

Children's entertainment

Each paying adult can bring two children aged under 5 free of charge - no ticket required. Child rates available for children aged 5 to 16 years.
There are a range of activities to keep children entertained at the show, more details to follow.

Baby changing and feeding

There are baby changing and feeding facilities at the show.

ATMs and bank facilities

Transactions will be cashless where possible.

There is a cashpoint at the show. A small charge applies.

RHS Gardening Advice

The RHS Gardening Advice stands are manned by our team of experts who give advice to visitors at all our shows on a host of subjects. At the RHS we are committed to protecting plant health and ask that visitors bring photographs of their plant problems to our shows rather than live plant material. This applies when visiting the RHS Gardening Advice stands or exhibitors in the floral marquees and will help to safeguard all the plants at the shows.

Shop and drop

There are two Shop & Drop locations, one near the Floral Marquee and one near the Festival of Roses, where you will be able to leave your purchases for collection later.

There are also Plant Porters who are able to transport your purchases from the Shop & Drops closer to your car using wheelbarrows. Please discuss these options with the porters; they are unable to travel as far as Green and Blue Car Parks (as they are located over a main road).

Lost property

Lost property is located at Visitor Information near the Thames Gate entrance.

Unclaimed items are kept for one month before being donated to local charities.

Picnic/seating areas

There are numerous seating areas around the showground, including picnic benches, deckchairs and dining tables and chairs.

Music and entertainment

You can enjoy a variety of talks and entertainment at the bandstands and stages around the showground. Check for timetables situated near each area.

Travel by taxi

Please arrange a pick-up/drop-off point outside the showground to avoid congestion.

We recommend you do not order taxis to pick you up from the Stud Gate car park. Taxis attempting to enter the car park at the end of the evening may be turned away.

Travel by boat

Turks Launches runs garden festival ferry services on the River Thames from Hampton Court station, Kingston Bridge (near Kingston station) and Richmond to the Thames Gate Entrance – last sailing to Richmond 6.15pm Tuesday–Saturday and 4.15pm on Sunday. 

There’s a small charge for these services.

Food & drink

There are a variety of food stalls available at Flowers After Hours.
 
Please note: more information on our pre-bookable dining option will be available soon.

Flowers After Hours guests wishing to bring their own picnics and rugs can use the Shop and Drop to store them, subject to a small fee. Items must be collected by 9.30pm when the shop and drop will close.

Music and entertainment

Flowers After Hours wouldn’t be a garden party without some music to dance to. Enjoy a range of live musical entertainment throughout the evening, an exciting silent disco, stilt and floral performers, as well as a musical parade finale.

Shopping

Exhibitors, including those in the Floral Marquee, will be selling their products at Flowers After Hours until 8.30pm. There are plenty of shopping opportunities to make the most of between 4 – 8.30pm, and purchases can be stored in the Shop and Drop so you can enjoy our musical entertainment with your hands free. Purchases from the Shop and Drop must be collected by 10pm.
 
The Floral Marquee and the Country Living Magazine Pavilion will close at 9.30pm. To make the most of your evening we recommend you view the exhibits and gardens early on.

Weather

 In the event of inclement weather, the Floral Marquee will stay open until 10.30pm.

Under 18s

The event is aimed at adults. Any under 18s attending must be with an adult and in possession of a valid ticket.
