Garden opening times

You no longer have to book tickets in advance to visit the garden. Pre-booking is still available for both members and non-members, if you would prefer to book in advance. Book your garden visit >

Staying safe

Our foremost priority is always the health and safety of our members, visitors, staff and volunteers, and we ask that everyone continues to support efforts to reduce the spread of the Covid-19. Additional safety and hygiene measures remain in place, including availability of hand sanitiser for visitors and staff, and enhanced cleaning.

We ask that everyone visiting Rosemoor please familiarise themselves with the latest Government advice and follow these measures:

  • At busy times and in crowded areas, be mindful of the needs of others by making space and considering wearing a face covering if you are able
  • Please read the public health messaging displayed around Rosemoor
  • Wash hands more frequently for at least 20 seconds


  • Accessible toilets are available at the car park, Welcome building and Rosemoor House
  • The children’s play areas are fully open
  • The Advisory Desk is open every Thursday and Friday 1–3pm
  • The Reading Room remains closed
To maintain accessibility for all our visitors we have:
  • Manual push wheelchairs available to reserve; please email [email protected] with your arrival time and date
  • Mobility vehicles available to book in advance online with arrival slots available at 10am and 2pm daily
  • Low walls along the admissions queue, suitable for seating while you wait
  • Staff on hand to bring you a wheelchair for use while you wait
  • Ample accessible parking
  • Accessible toilet facilities available across the garden
  • Full accessibility across the garden, Welcome building and Garden Centre

Please note: If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms associated with Coronavirus (Covid-19) you will not be permitted entry to Rosemoor.

How to cancel your booking
If you can't make your pre-booked time slot, please try to cancel it so that someone else can enjoy a visit. To cancel your booking, please email [email protected] at least 24 hours in advance and include your booking reference.

Dogs not allowed in garden

For the safety of all our visitors, dogs are not allowed in the garden, with the exception of registered support dogs.

Getting here

By car

Exit the M5 Southbound Exit at Junction 27, and join the A361 link road signposted Barnstaple/Bideford. At Barnstaple join A39 signposted Bideford (Atlantic Highway), keep heading towards Bideford on the A39 until you reach a roundabout signposted to Great Torrington (B3232). Take this road and follow it into Great Torrington. RHS Garden Rosemoor is signposted at Great Torrington and is situated 1 mile south on the A3124 road which heads towards Exeter. Car parking is free.

Please note: Ample parking is available but it is not shaded.

By bike

Open-air bike parking facilities are provided. Please note that the approach to RHS Garden Rosemoor will take cyclists on a fast, hilly A-road. Please see the map to plan your journey.

Visitor information on safety at the garden:
  • Please take care around water in the garden
  • Be aware that garden vehicles may be moving around
  • Sometimes the tracks and paths can be muddy, steep and uneven – please wear suitable footwear and take care
  • Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times
  • The garden is a natural environment. If you are concerned about any plants or animals, please ask a member of staff or call 111

Drone usage

We are concerned that the use of drones may introduce risks of injury to our staff or visitors, damage to our property, plants or local wildlife, or breaches of data protection laws. Personal drone usage is therefore prohibited at RHS Gardens. Commercial drone usage is also prohibited, save where occasionally commercial drone operators with suitable training and licences from the Civil Aviation Authority are allowed by the RHS to operate drones in an RHS Garden only where express permission has been provided to the drone operator in writing by the Head of RHS Garden Rosemoor.

Dogs in the garden

For the safety of all our visitors only guide and registered support dogs are allowed on site. Please do not leave dogs in our car parks, there is no shaded parking available - see more information about animal welfare.

Dog day care is available from K9 Focus, located approximately 12 minutes from RHS Garden Rosemoor. Visit the K9 Focus website for further information (please note: you are leaving the RHS website and will be governed by the privacy policy and terms and conditions of K9 Focus). 

Smoking policy

For the health & welfare of our visitors, we operate a no-smoking policy, inclusive of e-cigarettes, in or near certain areas of the garden, including: dining or food outlets, eating areas or terraces, picnic areas, covered spaces or buildings and the children’s play area. This may extend to other areas of the garden in periods of very dry weather.
